Saturday cybercrop

I scrapped with Joanne this morning and did two more layouts and one more which just needs some stitching which will be done later. Both of these layouts use the April 2010 gogo kit.




When I finished the layout of Elizabeth Joanne pointed out that the holiday was in Mallorca not Madeira, so a few amendments to the title were necessary!!

The table has been cleaned and set up in the garden ready for me to scrap at.

Cybercrop layout 2

I need to fiddle with layout 1, so here's the 11pm challenge from last night done this morning. Off to Joanne's to crop for the morning once I've sorted out some photos. The second class in particular is gorgeous. I have my April Scrapagogo kit out and I plan to try and use it up this weekend!!

Quilting marathon

We have had six days of quilty fun with visiting tutor from the US - Jan Krentz. This is what I've done over the last two days put on my design board ready to work on over the next few days.

Back from wet and windy Mallorca

And as we drove down Victoria Avenue in the taxi yesterday, we saw Mum sitting out on her balcony catching the sun. More than we did a few hundred miles away in the Med. Never mind we did enjoy ourselves. I missed the April crop, which Joanne ran and also Claire's birthday.

Today I've been completing the penultimate pinwheel blocks in red, white, black and grey. I think they'd look good with more red in the quilt? This week is going to be a quilty week as we have a visiting tutor (Jan Krentz) over and she is doing two workshops totalling five days over 6 days with a day off for good behaviour on Monday. I'm not sure my body or my brain is fit enough, but it will be good fun.

Gogo Sunday

Well some people were rudely awakened at 7am (really 6am with the hour change) by the fire alarm. I was one of those not in that area so slept blissfully on. I got up very tired and did nothing after breakfast until our sixth class. I may have gone into the shop for one last look!!

I was lucky that for class 6 with Lisa again I had the perfect photo from Bronte's recent party especially with Eleanor's pink outfit. This is a page done on an acrylic sheet with sharpies and some patterned paper.


Last class of the day was only an hour long with Vicki, Gogo's resident digi and hybrid expert. The kit included the printed cardstock for four single page layouts and four packs of embellies, and three printed alphabets and several pages of digital elements. I have finished two layouts and will keep the other two for a forthcoming crop in May.



Along with Chloe from Guernsey, Liz and I took a taxi back to Gatwick airport. We got there in very good time and A kindly got us back home early too after all the uncertainty of the previous two weeks as to whether BA would be running or cancelling the flight.

We're now looking forward to Gogo Take Shape in September here in Jersey, for which there are only four spaces left.

Gogo Saturday

Up nice and early so time to do a quick page before our first class at 10. This is a colour challenge from Design Your Life.


At 10am our first class was with Lorraine and her original used a portrait photo, but I had this family photo which was landscape so I changed it up a little. I almost finished the layout in class but wanted a journalling block which I stamped and cut at home.

After lunch, my favourite class was with Sam and we got messy. We used paint overlaid with embossing powder. This layout is very effective. We fussy cut a New York skyline but hen covered up most of it!!


Layout 4 was very pretty and the only one I didn't have a photo for. I had left ordering my photos from Truprint until Tuesday and they didn't arrive until Saturday. I couldn't get this photo of Grandma to print on my printer but it looks okay from Truprint. Lots of sewing on this layout to pick out details from the papers.


Last class of the day and one which wasn't scheduled to finish until 10.30pm. Too late for me. Lorraine's original was on a base of corrugated card but I altered it to cut the two strips from the card and added them to the top and bottom.

Gogo Friday

My spending started at the airport where I purchased a new handbag which I'd looked at the previous weekend. I also led Liz astray!!


Liz's Dad picked us up from the airport and we got to Theobolds Park in good time for the crop room to open at 6.30pm. Our places were marked with an iced Thorntons Easter egg each and a toothbrush and flannel promoting March 2011's pyjama party themed event. And yes I have booked. After a welcome from the Gogo team and our first round of bingogo, which Liz won , it was time for dinner, after which I completed one layout.

9pm and our first class with Lisa. A bit busy for my taste but ir worked well. We had been told to take a black and white photo but thought that as Matthew's blazer is black, that this colour photo would work and it did.

I know I should be packing but

The new fabrics I purchased with Claire at Stitch and Craft on Sunday were calling to me, so I made this week's pinwheels.

Added to the other four pairs of pinwheels it's looking lovely.

I am off to Scrapagogo on Friday but not sure when or how we're getting back at the moment as we had planned to come back with BA from Gatwick on Sunday night but may have to come back from Luton on Monday afternoon. We are trying to be patient and hope the strike blows over but it is difficult. Do I pack extra undies for Monday? AS always I'm planning to travel fairly light. My suitcase is mostly packed with Margaret's new Slice bag and card which gives me room for the return. An Artbin is already in my case which will be packing for my completed projects. Photos I hear you say. Ah yes that's the elephant in the room I've been avoiding. A school friend uploaded a photo of us in 1978 on a school trip to London so I may try and get a copy of that, but the main jobs for the rest of the day are:
1. Choose and order photos for the classes;
2. Make up four kits to take;
3. Pack my tools into an old ice cream container to save taking a tote.

My intentions are good but Jane has suggested lunch at plemont, so my packing will have to wait. Unfortunately that may mean my photos arrive after Friday and I have no-one to blame but myself.

I'll tell you more about my fun weekend with Claire once I've ordered my photos.

I'm enjoying making the pinwheels from Ps I quilt as they are a one hour easily achieved project. Here are the eight block so far.

I have done this week's blocks and am making great progress on another project. This week sees the Eisteddfod opening on Thursday with prize giving on Wednesday evening. I have five projects entered and I had a call to ask if my green jelly roll quilt had been "professionally" quilted, which isn't permitted. I confirmed that it had been done by me on my home sewing machine and thanked her for the compliment!! I will go to see the exhibition on Friday after class as the Esitddfod is held next door at the RJA&HS.

Enjoying just doing

After particpating in LOAD last month (more photos to follow) and finishing Eisteddfod work, I am enjoying just doing whatever I want. Yesterday I finished work on the WI anniversary book which had been put to the side during February, so the rest of the day was my own.

I decided to make up some pinwheel blocks for a Quilt a Long on Rachel Griffith's blog I picked out some black and whites and added some reds and greys and this is a picture of the first two lessons. I think I'll look out some more white with hints of black when I'm at the Stitch & Craft expo at Olympia in 18 days time.

Today's a bit busy with a doctor's appointment, sax lesson, funeral and meeting Matthew's teachers tonight, so I think the first job is to finish the ironing and then I need to get out some fabrics to plan for one of the two workshops we're doing in April.I'll start with the easiest one first.

Out of hibernation

My Eisteddfod entries are now all done, labelled and in the car ready to give to Astra tomorrow. Phew, I can do some of my job list now. Here's today's LOAD layout using photos taken in 2005 and 2010 at Suasmarez Park.

But have taken time out to do a page for LOAD today. The end of both is in sight!! This is also a DYL assignment for Real World Colour. Another sheet of Rouge de Garance paper which needs little adornment.

Back from Guernsey

Got back last night and almost forgot to finish my Layout a Day, so did some early morning scrapbooking. This is today's layout - day 21 and week 8 assignment 1 from Design Your Life. These are photos of our trip to Guernsey with an old sticker strip, some Scenic Route alpha stickers and a LYB journalling block trimmed down.



Still working on my Eisteddfod entries so no time to upload all the other LOAD layouts atm. Next week I'll share them.

LOAD day 16

I know you're wondering where days 11 to 15 went, but they are done but I haven't had time to take a good photo of them, so you'll have to be satisfied with just one layout. Cribbed almost entirely from Lisa Day's blog. I definitely need more practise with glimmer mists. Especially as I forgot not to shake it and the nozzle gunked up.

Days 8 & 9

Another Design Your Life layout (double). I like the simplicity of this design. I picked the yellow from three of the photos to bring it out, with my scallop punch and some kraft cardstock and I was done.

LOAD catch up

It's Day 4 already and I'm just starting to shake off my cold. Here's the layouts I've done from the Design Your Life course which also satisfy my LOAD commitment.

You've got to love those Making Memories journalling blocks in every colour!! Add in some Bazzill Swiss Dot and some older basic Grey paper. This is week 4 assignment 2 for DYL.

Some more of those Rouge de Garance papers I won a few years ago. Only two full sheets left now. Added a journlling block from the DYL class and some staples in a triangle and I'm done.

I'm trying to do the DYL class and the LOAD challenge at the same time as completing three projects for the Eisteddfod. The pieces have to be handed in by the end of February. I have five pieces to enter for our group, Chez Soi. The macrame necklace and jelly roll quilt have been finished for months, but I now have a machine embroidered wallhanging, a cute rabbit wallhanging and a king size quilt to finish. I'm determined to finish the machine embroidery before Wednesday so I can sew on the binding next Wednesday at our quilting group.

LOAD version 2.10

Layout a Day (LOAD) is back. I finished this old layout which only needed some journalling. I hadn't received any of the LOAD e-mails so once that was sorted I uploaded my first layout. Reading the discussions on the LOAD flickr board, there was also a layout a Day challenge in October, not sure how that one passed me by.



Still have a head full of cold and also intermittent earache. That has affected my enthusiasm to get things done, so finishing old layouts may be all i achieve in the next few days to keep up with the LOAD challenge. I can also fall back on my Design Your Life assignments. I still haven't finished one Week 2 assignment which probably won't ever happen, so I now need to move on to week 5 as week 6 starts Thursday.

Remember this

Week 4's theme is repetition (continuation of week 3). Second assignment is a mini book which probably won't be done but is a very cute idea. However I have done the first assignment with thanks to Lorraine for the use of her butterfly punch. Ching would be proud of me, as this is the second layout this week I've used staples on. Mainly because I haven't found my fastenator box.

More snow layouts

Using that hidden December Scrapagogo kit, here's week 3 layout 1, so that's weeks 1 and 2 finished and just one from week 1 to complete. I need to find some different photos to do that one as the ones I've chosen just aren't working for me.



Time for me to get off the computer and clear my desk so that I can complete the handbag I promised to show the quilting group tonight. At least two ladies have finished their top from the workshop on Friday so I'm looking forward to seeing the results.

Scrapagogo December kit

Here's DYL wk3 layout 2 using the Scrapagogo kit that I didn't know I had as I labelled it and filed it away neatly. Fatal!!



These photos are poor, but that's after they have had basic PSE titivation. The rotunda is so dark at Fort Regent and they had red green and blue light alternating. I much preferred the waterfront ice rink or the one on the Parade.

At last

Here's RWC week 2. All it needed was the journalling to be completed which was a perfect in front of the TV job last night. The colours were taken from a cushion and were hot pink, zingy orange and chocolate brown - sounds like a good recipe for a dessert!!

Real World Colour (RWC)

This is my week 3 layout. The colours came from a photograph we were provided of an italian restaurant (hence red, white and green) with blue grey walls. There's plenty of red in the prak photos which I chose. I also altered the 8 by 11 sketch to be 12 by 12.



Still playing catch up on one week 1 layout and week 2 RWC which just needs journalling. Week 3 has started so that adds two more to the list. I may even bring out my December Scrapagogo kit for one of the layouts!!

Snow joke

What a surprise this morning no more snow and none forecast for the rest of the week. Quite a contrast to yesterday. I was horrified to find in my tidy stash the December Scrapagogo kit completely untouched. Lots of snowy papers and knitted mittens.

I've done two layouts from the Design your Life class today, one is waiting for Matthew and Elizabeth to do the journalling for me. The second is below. I like how it's turned out and the orange swirly strip came straight out of my orange scrap folder.

Solo crop

The snow is looking fantastic but it meant we had to postpone today's crop. No-one wants to cancel this month's crop so I will try and re-schedule it with the venue on Monday.

I need to get the week 1 and 2 layouts completed for CZ's design your Life class. I had this one kitted out with photos already cropped to size, but it's still taken an hour to put together. Not sure why.



The lesson this week was on asymmetry and I dug out more old papers. Used up all the red velvet ric rac and could put my hands on the buttons. Tidy has a lot going for it. Or should I say tidier. Still a long way to go, especially as I have a large box of crop kits and prizes on the floor. Thanks to Joanne for putting the kits together and donating some of the prizes. Still haven't found my Gogo wallhanging or sissix fun serif alphas.

Getting ready for the crop

I have started sorting my stash as my craft room is a mess and came across some stickers from a kit about eight years ago and some patterned paper and embellishments for snow pictures. So having already sorted and thinned my stash I was able to pick out the supplies very quickly to do this layout for week two of Design your Life and it's project two.

Yes I can count too. I still have week 1 projects 1 and 2 and week 2 project 1 to do. My enlargements have arrived for Wk 1 project 1 so just need to get my stuff together so I can do them at the crop tomorrow. Weather permitting.



And if you look at the layout carefully you'll even see evidence of glitter glue on the letter stickers.

Design your life week 1

Unusually the week for the class starts on a Thursday which is really going to confuse me. However I think it's a good idea as those that work can prepare on Thursday / Friday and complete the three assignments over the weekend.

This is the third assignment for the week called "Real World Colour". Cathy gives you a colour swatch taken from a photo or advert with a sketch for you to produce a layout. This is my version. I'm not happy with the AC pen I used for this. I will have to see if I can remove the writing with stazon stamp cleaner probably and beg steal or borrow a pen. I found the patterned paper whilst sorting stuff for next Saturday's crop and went from there. There's orange in the colour swatch not red so I have used a little artistic licence.



You're possibly wondering where the first two assignments are? The first assignment needed an enlargement which I've ordered from Snapfish which I want to do first.

Joanne has done a fabulous job of putting together mystery kits for next Saturday. I've added some fibres and stickers to each bag and they're ready to go. Just need to sort photos next. Fiona and Elizabeth have also agreed to come and be prize girls again which they thoroughly enjoyed last time.

As we are soon to set off to church, I thought I would wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a healthy New Year now.

Another class

You know I'm a sucker for online classes, some I embrace completely and finish them - Shimelle's - Go to Press is a good example where I did all but one layout. On the other hand Cheryl's photography class I didn't do a thing other than read the first two handouts. However I have all the handouts to refer back to.

So what have I signed up for now? Starting 1 January I am doing Cathy Zielske's class at Big Picture Scrapbooking. Tracey just spotted my pre-class layout whilst she was here collecting some gooides, so I thought I should share it with you.


All of the pages are on kraft cardstock so I may or may not need to buy some before the class is over. Each class has three layouts per week, on your choice of subject but one of the layouts each week is using pre determined colours otherwise you can choose your own subject and colour for each layout. December crop

Catching up today. A busy day with a little service for Beaulieu feast day for Beaulieu alumni and friends. No idea where Kathryn was as she was meant to be there. Then girls have a half day so E's friend came with us to do a quick Co-op shop. Quick trip to see Val en route to the consultant as E has some toys she wants to sell. After consultant some time to put our feet up before M comes home and it's time to head to music. Last thing for the day is a committee meeting which is a shame as I had an invite to a charity do at Royal Yacht in which E's best freind is performing.




Only a week until the deadline for the Scrapagogo challenge and I know they have 10 entires so far - two posted here belonging to Maureen and Jenny, five in my previous post and Chloe, Margaret and Liz have also done their pages. Very good odds of winning a fabulous prize.


I also finished 3 of my pages from the Scrapagogo event. The last one I'll keep for New Year's day to quiz my father and aunt about who is who in the heritage photo.
