My wish to knit socks started with the purchase of a knitting book when we were in Melton Mowbray of all places which was near to Matthew's sixth form college - Welbeck. Last year I visited Loop with friends and thought more about socks. If I bought some yarn then, it hasn't surfaced.
Last weekend in London, we visited Westfield at Stratford and bought this skein in John Lewis.
When I got home, I popped down to the Harbour Gallery and bought some DPNs and a skein of this lovely turquoise. I tried the DPNs but I don't think they're for me, so I am going to try the magic loop technique. So I returned the DPNs and bought another skein, this time in a denim colour. I've since found out that I need to wind the skein into a ball before starting a project.
I also bought some cute stitch markers. I had found some jump rings which would do the job, but these were too darned cute. I have been in touch with the owner of the wool shop about learning to knit socks so I am hoping to start very soon.

I have never had the urge to knit socks ... but my friend does x I asked her and she uses the interchangeable needles to knit socks .. I asked her and she sometimes uses magic loop too.. seems to be a personal thing x Good luck .. the colour in your yarn is beautiful .. OH! she also said look out for the yarn with nylon in is wears better x
I struggled with DPNS too but found magic loop worked really well. Last time I did "two at a time toe up" which was brilliant - no second sock syndrome!
